33 - A dance concert and dinner reception
celebrating 33 years of the Lisa Leizman Dance Company
Saturday, July 13 at 7:00pm
Tickets: $15-$33 sliding scale, Available here!
Guess what? It’s the 33rd anniversary of the Lisa Leizman Dance Company! Please join us on Saturday, July 13 at 7:00pm for a celebratory concert in the beautiful, fully-renovated Northampton Center for the Arts at 33 Hawley Street! Of course, the company wholly intended to throw a festive shindig three years ago in 2021— three decades of dancing together being a nice, round number— but… well… we all know how that turned out. Now, the dance group, a resident company of the Northampton Center for the Arts, digs into its repertory to perform Hymn to the Aten from the opera Akhnaten with music by Philip Glass and text from the ancient Hymn to the Sun. The concert includes a performance of After Smithson, with music by company composer-in-residence Andrea Kwapien as well as Evening Song, with music by Philip Glass from the opera Satyagraha. The program will also feature three solo works: the amen of calm waters with music by Ludovico Enauldi, some bird, perhaps with music by Arvo Part and footfalls echo in the memory, a new work with music by Andrea Kwapien.
Come celebrate 33 years with the Lisa Leizman Dance Company, and stay for a dinner reception following the performance!
