ArtPlay, the Center’s unique vacation arts program, encourages kids ages 6-12 to think of themselves as fundamentally creative beings with a fun, interactive, interdisciplinary approach. The program connects youth to local teaching artists and provides space and structure for youth-initiated projects, performances, and exhibitions. Kids will have the chance to experiment with dance, music, drama, visual arts, collaborative play, and more!
Fee: $300-$375 sliding scale. Payments on the upper end of the scale help support our commitment to sliding scale rates, as well as our low teacher/participant ratio. Financial aid is available through our Community Fund. In order to offer individual attention, each session is limited to 15 participants.
2025 Dates

One week sessions of ArtPlay are held during February and April school vacations from 10:00am-4:00pm. Summer ArtPlay runs in six one-week sessions in June, July, and August from 9:00am-4:00pm daily.
What to expect: The structure of ArtPlay is based on rhythm rather than strict scheduling, and we offer classes/activities in a variety of subjects such as dance, music, theatre, and visual art, which rotate throughout the week. Each day starts with an opening circle, and includes various arts “playshops,” a walk/time off-site, collaborative games, more playshops, and a closing circle. Time is devoted to creating group projects that showcase the activities we have worked on during the week, which are shared on Friday afternoon at 3pm. There is usually a loose theme, and the theme/activities that happen during the week are shaped in part around the interests of the kids who are participating.
Registration for February 2025 opens November 15, 2024. Registration for all other 2025 sessions will open January 1, 2025. To register, email us at programs@nohoarts.org or call the Center at (413) 584-7327. Please include your name, address, and telephone contact plus the name and age of the participant.
