Do something special for yourself this Holiday Season! Join us for an interesting course in botanical illustration and learn how to create beautiful drawings of plants, flowers and natural findings. We will begin with instruction in line and tonal, dimensional drawing before moving on to colored pencil techniques. No prior experience is required, but those with experience will find plenty to learn and re-learn in new ways.

We will complete several dissections of plants to identify their key parts. Lessons in composition, color theory and spatial relationships are some topics we will study. Along with multiple exercise studies, students will have the opportunity to complete several finished compositions. Each class will include a discussion of a specific topic, a demonstration, exercise drawings and time to work independently. I will check in regularly with each of you every week to provide individualized instruction as needed. The fee is $200 plus materials list below.

To register, email us or call the Center at (413) 584-7327. Please include your name, address, and telephone contact. Course fees are payable in advance by check to "NCFA" and can be mailed to the Northampton Center for the Arts, PO Box 366, Northampton MA 01061. We do not accept credit cards.
