Wednesday Dance Classes with Kelly Silliman

A full menu of movement, from ballet to ballroom. Every Wednesday through December 20 (except November 22). See below for class descriptions and registration instructions.

Fees for joining sessions mid-term are negotiable with the instructor. There is a drop-in option of $15 per class for tinydance Technique, Adult Contemporary Modern and Adult Ballet. All classes are held at 33 Hawley Street. Please use lower level entrance adjacent to parking lot.

They can be paid in person on class day or mailed to the Northampton Center for the Arts, PO Box 366, Northampton MA 01061. We do not accept credit cards.

Technique with the tinydance project, Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 am
Join the tinydance project in their weekly technique class! This mixed-level adult class offers students a chance to move and use their voices from warmups through choreography. Emphasis is placed on healthy alignment, integrated warm-ups, individualized modifications to movement when necessary, and having fun while exploring movement and music material.

Adult Contemporary Modern, Wednesdays 2:00-3:30 pm
This advanced beginning/intermediate modern class focuses on alignment, strength building/maintenance, and creative expression. Students will be guided through integrated warmups, locomotor exercises, and choreography, and are encouraged to listen to their bodies and modify movement as necessary, with support from the teacher.

Creative Ballet (ages 3-6), Wednesdays 3:45-4:30pm
Students will learn basic ballet technique in a healthy, creative environment with plenty of time for dance games and creative movement.

Youth Modern Jazz (ages 7-12), Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm
Learn upbeat, fun moves to a variety of music including but not limited to jazz and pop. Emphasis is placed on strength and alignment in a creative, energetic environment.

Teen Ballroom/Social Dance (ages 13+), Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm
Not your grandmother’s cotillion...think of this as Nohotillion! Students will learn the basics of social dances including swing, waltz, rumba, foxtrot, and tango, and skills such as leading and following, while gaining comfort and versatility in partner dancing.

Adult Ballet, Wednesdays 7:30-9:00pm
This is a mixed-level ballet class that offers students a physical and mental workout while focusing on alignment and strength building in a healthy, welcoming environment. No leotards necessary here, comfortable exercise-wear is just fine!
