Introduction to Drawing with Paula Gottlieb
Have you always wanted to draw but don’t know how to begin?
Learning to draw is about learning to see and learning the elements by which you translate this seeing onto paper. In this class the fundamentals will be presented in an atmosphere of encouragement and support. We will cover the basic elements of line, shape, value and proportion to begin to create an illusion of depth on a piece of paper. We will begin with a few exercises from “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” theory which will show you how to differentiate between what you think you observe and what you need to clearly observe in order to know how to draw.
Using the still life we will work with compositional studies and perspective to arrange objects on a page for optimal creation of space and depth. This is a beginning level class for ages 15+ and is ideal for those who do not know how to draw but are eager to learn. The fee is $200 plus materials listed below. They can be purchased at the Guild Art Centre at 102 Main Street in Northampton. Mention you are taking class with Paula Gottlieb for 10% discount
