Cakes in a Landscape: A Pastel Workshop Intensive with Jane Lund
Sunday, August 16, 4-7pm and Monday-Friday, August 17-21, 10am-4pm
From the Dutch still life masters to contemporary painters like Janet Fish and Wayne Thiebaud, artists have painted desserts. Confections have great appeal, because of their variety of shapes and colors. During this week-long pastel workshop, we will be using cakes as our subject matter, but super-imposing their image into a landscape of each student’s choosing. Numerous photographs of landscapes will be available, or students can provide their own. Here is an opportunity to use pictures of your backyard as the scenery behind a Mocha-crème cake. In this workshop, which begins on Sunday evening with three hours of warm-up exercises, we will be working in soft pastels on Wallace paper. Acrylic paint used for toning the paper is supplied. All levels of students are encouraged to participate, and you might even get to draw your cake and eat it too! $375 plus materials list provided upon registration.
